WINLEVI® is not like other typical acne treatments. The medication targets acne hormones at the beginning of the acne cycle– a wholly unique approach. To communicate the unique way the medication works to an audience that had tried numerous other topical treatments without success, WINLEVI required a different kind of website.

Design goals

The website’s main goal was to educate consumers about the root causes of acne, communicate how WINLEVI disrupts this hormonal process, and emphasize that the topical treatment is suitable for teens and adults alike. Given that many adult patients have been dealing with acne for a long time, the website aimed to connect with their struggles and establish scientific credibility, while challenging previous notions about topical acne treatment.

Delivering on “Different”

The central concept, “the only topical to focus on acne hormones,” was made easily understandable with beautifully produced video headers with striking animations, a thoughtful “How to Apply” section, and helpful educational content. Cutting-edge UI/UX design was employed through user-defined scrolling animations, interactive and parallax elements, video “pathways”, a user quiz (complete with fun 🤩emojis), and a mobile-first layout. Essentially, we broke all the rules of traditional pharma websites and somehow got it through compliance. Thanks to PPC and social campaigns led by Core-Rx and a blossoming relationship with spokesperson Dr. Sandra Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper, the site has gained massive attention. WINLEVI is now the #1 topical brand prescribed by dermatologists. In just seven months, the site has achieved impressive results: 459,000 unique website sessions and a 37% engagement rate, with 16,000 Copay card downloads, and 70,000 users watching the “How to Use” video.
