While RMHDE may not be able to make the medicine taste better or erase the pain of a much-needed treatment, they help lessen the burden for more than seven million families each and every year. Since 1974, the network of local RMH Chapters have been making children happier and healthier by keeping families together — giving them a place to rest and refresh. A place that feels like home. RMHC chapters are individually operated and each site is responsible for their own marketing, fundraising, and donation efforts. In 2012, RMHDE Executive Director, Pamela Cornforth, was confronted with an inadequate website design and infrastructure the beating heart to her online system of communication, and vital to the foundation’s efforts to reach donors and the families of patients.
Think it First partnered with Ronald McDonald House of Delaware to help the organization find gaps in their ability to inform and educate website visitors. What we uncovered was a broken content management system in place, often creating hours of work for simple website updating tasks. Hours we thought were better spent preparing rooms and hot meals, and expanding the reach of one of the world’s most compassionate forms of giving. In addition to our efforts to reorganize website content, our work with RMHDE has also included breathing new life into the brand and designing a powerful front-end user experience that’s beautiful and intuitive. The guts of the website were then dissected. We decidedly rearchitected and built a custom WordPress back-end system for managing events, videos, analytics and data that is simple and efficient.
