How We Approach Design
How will they interact with the experience? What are we asking them to do? We design for real outcomes, putting our customers’ customers first. A combination of visual exploration, user flows, prototyping, and testing ensures that we solve problems effectively through design.
An investment in design is an investment in making it easier for your customers to do what you want them to do. High-performing sites are organized and logical. Low-performing sites are not. Good design is good for business.
Simple design solutions with a hint of delight beat over-the-top aesthetics every day. We design with clarity and authenticity to imply maturity and establish credibility beyond the written word. Design is an invisible vehicle. When it’s right, you can’t see it. But you’ll feel it.
We prioritize an open mind because ego hinders opportunity. We’ll offer up bold ideas and let your team’s expertise inform how we mold them into something that works. When you come to us with an idea, we use design as our sandbox.
Your customer ultimately defines your brand. We create the tools they need to do it.
Naming. Logos. Palettes. Typography. Style guides.
Well-designed sites that move people to action tell a story with text and visuals. But it was the story that came first.
We help you write and design the unique story you want to tell.
We’ll deliver your experience with the perfect mix of functionality and delight. And optimized for the countless devices out there.

We spend the time to nail down your content via outlines and master copy documents, then we produce one (1) set of design prototypes provided for consideration.
Think It First has spent years defining a process to produce accurate, clickable “blueprints” and then functional “color prototypes” that make it easy to experience the design as it’s being produced. Along the way, we iterate and incorporate your feedback at defined project milestones. A TIF design set will include all the key screens, style sheets, and interfaces needed to convey the overall design intent.
A TIF Blueprint is an interactive prototype (or wireframe). It’s a “blue” and white version of your digital product that is designed to prove the functionality and features as they will work in the browser. TIF Blueprint prototypes are not your average wireframe. They are very polished, however, design elements such as color and imagery are not applied at this stage. A pivotal point in the project, the prototype is built to allow all parties to make final decisions on the functionality as well as add critical input to the important design and style of the website.
Your brand carries with it in an instant, your customer’s expectations of what they think their money will buy. It’s a promise of what people believe you and your product or service to be. Think It First can help you define and connect every aspect of the brand experience from naming to signage to digital application. Our designers are experienced brand developers and have a unique specialty when it comes to applying your identity in the digital space.
When content is an integral part of the design process, each page will successfully bridge gaps from one page to the next and take the viewer on a literal journey through your company. It will be succinct and fluid and cohesive; not pieced together and forced to meet a fleeting need.
We covet content as the endoskeleton to our design process and take the steps to wrangle all of it through an organized process that includes outlines and master copy documents. We then create sitemaps, userflows, and information architecture diagrams to nail down the structure for your website, mobile application, or technology product to allow us to understand where we are as users, and where the information we want is in relation to our position. This skillset allows us to create easy to use websites and apps, make online information easy to find, solve usability problems, and make your users happy. For us, it all comes down to creating purposeful designs.

More often than not, a wireframe deliverable is a bunch of boxes and some squiggly lines. It’s static and unclickable, foregoing any sense of interactivity and realness. A client looks at them and thinks… Ok… these look… fine? Best case, they trust you and let you do your thing. Worst case, they start to wonder what they’re paying for.

Back when newspapers reigned supreme, there was a layout concept that publishers adhered to called “the fold.” The idea was to put the most important headlines and stories at the top of the front page, quite literally above where the paper folded, in order to attract buyers. By and large, it worked.
